Irene Christina Anthi Christofide

Irene-Christina Anthi-Christofide Advocate-Associate at the Law Firm L. PAPAPHILIPPOU & CO LCC, Head of the Department of Privacy and Data Protection Law.

Focus in providing legal services on privacy and personal data protection matters. Moreover, she has experience in and provides legal services in various legal sectors, indicatively, in the regulatory sector, banking and finance sector (including provision of legal consulting services in various financial areas), as well as in matters of public and private international law, constitutional law, human rights law, administrative law, labour law, matters of local governance and, in general, legal matters related to the sector of commercial enterprises.

She is a registered member of the Cyprus Bar Association and the Nicosia Bar Association.

In the past, she has served, in the Republic of Cyprus, as a member of the Special Teaching Staff of the Law Departments of the Nicosia University (academic years 2013-2015) and the Neapolis University Pafos (academic year 2012-2013).

She is a holder of the title of Bachelor Of Laws (Qualifying Degree) (With Honours) in Law (LLB) from the University of Warwick, Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law from the University of Bristol and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) - Public International Law, from the University of Bristol. Further, she is Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Andreas Charalambous

Andreas CharalambousDr Andreas Charalambous is Professor and Executive Vice President for Health, of the University of Nicosia ( UNIC Health). He served as  Foundation Executive Dean of the  Medical School from 2011 until July of 2022.  He is a US-trained anatomist and medical educator with a strong record in higher education development and internationalization.

He holds an undergraduate and master’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a PhD in Anatomy / Neuroscience from The Ohio State University.

He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and during his career, has served in various academic and administrative capacities such as Department Chair, Dean and Vice President.

His research covers the areas of medical education and environmental / public health. He also served/serves as Board Member and Advisor to medical schools and medical education projects in Europe and in North America.

Christos A. Ioannou

Christos IoannouChristos A. Ioannou is a Full Professor in Economics at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a research fellow at the Centre d’Economie de la Sorbonne. He graduated in 2009 with a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Minnesota.

Christos A. Ioannou is an applied game theorist interested in modelling economic behavior. His research interests span from an analysis and modelling of behavior in repeated games to that in prediction markets.

Irene Polycarpou

irene polycarpouDr Irene Polycarpou is a Professor of Technology and Innovation in Education and the Head of the School of Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus. She is also a founding member and Director of the non-profit Research Centre InSPIRE (Interdisciplinary Science Promotion and Innovative Research Exploration).

Her research focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and educational technologies, with emphasis on interactive multimedia for education, design and development of educational software, e-learning, educational technologies and investigations into students' cognition and learning styles.

She led and participated in numerous research projects, funded by national, European and international organisations. She has several publications in international scientific journals and conferences, and she supervised PhD students in areas related to her expertise.

She is an elected board member of the European Office Cyprus, an appointed member of the Advisory Committee for Digital Technologies in Education of the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, a member of the organizing committee and judge for the Cyprus Digital Championship, a member of the grant jury of the European Youth Awards (EYA), and an elected board member of the ACM-W Cyprus chapter.

She served as an expert evaluator for EU funding programmes, a reviewer for several journals and conferences, and a member of the program and organising committee of several international conferences. She is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Stavros Stavrou

stavros stavrouProfessor Stavros Stavrou is currently the Dean of Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences of the Open University of Cyprus, a member of the Open University of Cyprus University Council, and the founder and director of the Cybersecurity and Telecommunications Research Lab (CTRL). His areas of academic, research and practical expertise span between topics of Telecommunication & Computer Engineering, Communication Networks and Cybersecurity.

Between 1997-2009 he was a member of staff at the University of Surrey (U.K.), whereas faculty member organized and taught in postgraduate and undergraduate courses and lead with his research team numerous research projects funded from research councils, government agencies and industrial organizations. He joined the Open University of Cyprus in 2009 where he developed and managed several MSc programs, including the MSC programme in Wireless Communications and the MSc programme in Computer and Network security. He was also responsible for designing and deploying the first virtual labs of the Open University of Cyprus in 2014/15.

Between 2014-2018 and until the university became autonomous, he was a member of the Governing board of the Open University of Cyprus.

In 2018 he was elected as the 1st Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied sciences. He has been the author/co-author and principal investigator of numerous successful European and national R&D proposals, awarded from research councils, government, and industrial organizations. Some of the funding bodies include: EU (FP6/FP7/Horizon2020), EPSRC, Defence and Science Technology Laboratory (MoD, U.K.), Mobile VCE, Rolls Royce plc, Inmarsat, Research Promotion Foundation, and others.

He has published extensively in relevant peer reviewed publications and contributed towards numerous technical reports. He holds a patent for a cellular phone jammer and has designed and developed several R&D platforms in communication systems, networks, and cybersecurity.

Professor Stavrou is a member of the Executive Academic Board (EAB) of the European Defence and Security College (ESDC), and the 1st elected Chairman of its Cyber group configuration (EAB.CYBER), responsible for coordinating Cyber Security training activities across Europe. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy U.K.
